Paper Highway Turbines Powering Traffic Management System Using IoT

This study intends to develop and put into practice a unique system that uses Internet of Things technology to power a smart traffic control system by utilizing wind energy from moving cars on roads. The technology uses permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSGs) to convert wind energy into electrical power. The wind is captured by Savonius vertical axis wind turbines (VAWTs) from any direction. Lead-acid batteries, which power LED lights and traffic control equipment including traffic signals, variable message signs, and sensors, are stored in the electrical output. Potential advantages include lower carbon emissions, increased energy resilience, and environmentally friendly transportation when wind energy is integrated into traffic control systems. IoT devices that track and optimize energy use and traffic flow are also integrated into the system. The project shows how utilizing IoT technology and renewable energy sources can create sustainable and effective urban environments, as well as how beneficial they are. But in order to overcome obstacles like erratic weather, land use, legal restrictions, and infrastructure constraints, cooperation, smart grid integration, community involvement, and policy harmonization are required. The initiative supports the expanding body of research on renewable energy sources for environmentally friendly urban planning and transportation infrastructure.
