Yoon Seok-yeol's Unification and North Korea Policy Evaluation and Tasks : focusing on Comparisons with Previous Governments
The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the unification and North Korea policies of the Yoon Seok-yeol administration by comparing them with those of previous governments, and to present tasks to secure the driving force of the policy. To this end, the current government's policies were evaluated using five variables derived from a comprehensive analysis of previous governments' unification and North Korea policies. As a result, the current administration's unification and North Korea policy was analyzed to have the following characteristics: ①It recognizes inter-Korean relations as structural hostility; ②It excludes trust-building measures that can justify North Korea's denuclearization negotiations; ③It is difficult to implement simultaneous measures corresponding to North Korea's stage-by-stage denuclearization process; ④It also emphasizes coercion through coercion rather than inducing change through involvement; ⑤It makes it clear that liberal democratic values cannot be compromised even in the unification process. However, these policies have not gained momentum as a policy because there is no alignment between the 「Audacious Initiative」 and other detailed policies. Therefore, in order for the current government's policies to secure momentum, it is necessary to clearly align the characteristics of unification and North Korea policies from a realistic point of view, focusing on the 「Audacious Initiative」.
