AAP urges caution in diagnosing, treating PANS

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) last year released a clinical report on Pediatric Acute‐Onset Neuropsychiatric Syndrome (PANS). Noting that PANS is “likely” a valid diagnosis, the AAP was concerned about the lack of evidence to guide clinicians in diagnosing it. And the validity of the diagnosis itself, therefore, isn't always clear.

Abstract

Noting that PANS is “likely” a valid diagnosis, the AAP was concerned about the lack of evidence to guide clinicians in diagnosing it. And the validity of the diagnosis itself, therefore, isn't always clear.
