El gobierno sinodal en la legislación canónica carolingia
Those responsible for the Carolingian reform were fully aware that a true renewal of the Empire and the Church had to encompass their own models of governance. In the ecclesiastical sphere, the foundation and reinforcement of synodal governance was an indispensable condition for genuine reform of the Church. In this way, early medieval theology and canon law contributed to providing effective tools for the process initiated by both kings and bishops. This article presents the Carolingian canonical sources relating to synodal governance and the cooperation between bishops and priests within this governance.
