TRANSPORT IN EASTERN RUSSIA: ENSURING ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT PRIORITIES IN THE NEW ENVIRONMENT
The article considers the needs in the services of the Far Eastern transport complex to ensure the priorities of economic development at the present stage. The tasks formed by the regional and national economy are highlighted. Since the extractive industry is an important segment of the economy for the development of the Far East, a grouping of projects of the natural resource sector of the macro-region in terms of their needs in transportation is given. Three groups of projects are singled out: 1) active projects that do not require transportation development, 2) active projects that require transportation infrastructure development, and 3) promising projects, the operation of which requires the removal of transportation restrictions. The national tasks of the FEFD transport complex include participation in ensuring transportation of extra-regional cargoes to foreign markets and expansion of Russia’s foreign economic cooperation. At the present stage, the implementation of national tasks is associated with the following directions of transport infrastructure development in the Far Eastern Federal District: intensification of the use of the eastern sector of the Northern Sea Route, modernization of the railroad network, optimization of the system of border checkpoints in the territory of the Far Eastern Federal District. The article presents options for modernization of checkpoints across the state border of the Russian Federation with the PRC.
