Association between Age Group at Initial Ankle Sprain and Athletic History in Patients with Chronic Ankle Instability
Inadequate management of the initial ankle sprain, particularly insufficient rehabilitation, has been suggested as a potential cause of chronic ankle instability (CAI). Approximately 46% of individuals who have experienced an initial ankle sprain are at risk of developing CAI. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of CAI among university athletes and to examine trends in CAI prevalence by age group at the time of the initial ankle sprain and the duration of athletic experience in individuals with CAI.
