BANTAY: An Analytical Crowdsourcing Mobile Application for Improving Peace and Order in the Town of San Miguel, Bulacan
Protecting public safety is becoming increasingly difficult for municipalities, particularly in small towns like San Miguel, Bulacan, where rising crime rates strain local law enforcement agencies, which frequently lack the necessary resources; this highlights the critical need for innovative solutions that leverage technology and community involvement. To close this gap, the BANTAY mobile app intends to empower people by offering a platform for real-time event reporting and information sharing, resulting in faster reaction times and a closer interaction between citizens and law enforcement. The study used a mixed-methods approach to evaluate the BANTAY mobile application, which aimed to improve peace and order in San Miguel, Bulacan, by combining qualitative inputs from community focus groups and quantitative data from large-scale surveys. The Agile software development technique allowed for continuous stakeholder interaction throughout the app's development, and the final evaluation included thorough assessments of user acceptance and technical performance. The evaluation of the mobile application demonstrates strong performance in critical software quality components such as functionality, dependability, and usability, as seen by high mean scores indicating user-friendly design and effective operational performance. Despite a somewhat lower maintainability rating, the program has received widespread acceptance and positive user feedback, showing that it has the potential to promote community peace and order in San Miguel, Bulacan. High ratings on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) aspects add to the app's perceived usefulness and simplicity of use, implying that it is well-positioned for widespread acceptance and effectiveness. User feedback suggests overwhelming approval, with strong views about its simplicity of use and a strong intention to continue using the app, which is consistent with the Technology acceptance Model principles.
