Design of a reflective metasurface and analysis of beam control
In this paper, an M-type metasurface unit is designed that can achieve broadband characteristics for incident electromagnetic waves in the 14.7–30.2 GHz range: the polarization conversion ratio (PCR) can exceed 90%, with a relative bandwidth of more than 65%. Based on the PB phase theory, utilizing the designed 4 × 4 basic units as coded particles, various 1bit and 2bit coded metasurfaces are constructed. By comparing the simulation results of electric field scattering, reflection wave azimuth, and pitch angle with theoretical results, the beam steering capability of the designed coded metasurface is verified. The designed coded metasurface is used in RCS reduction, and the maximum reduction is close to 20 dB compared with the RCS reduction of the pure metal plate at 10.0 GHz–31.5 GHz, which verifies the RCS reduction effect of the designed coded metasurface, it also proves the practicability of the coded metasurface to reduce RCS.
