Dual-Array Patch Antennas for Optimal Backhaul Transmission in Network Systems

To address the need for efficient backhaul transmission in modern network infrastructures, this paper presents the design, simulation, and experimental validation of a dual-array patch antenna. Featuring a 2x1 array configuration and incorporating a Defected Ground Structure (DGS), the antenna is engineered to operate at a central frequency of 8.36 GHz. Key performance metrics, including return loss, VSWR, bandwidth, and gain, are thoroughly analyzed. Simulations indicate a return loss of −21.28 dB and a VSWR of 1.1, ensuring excellent impedance matching and minimal signal reflection. Experimental measurements further improve upon these results, demonstrating return loss of −24.57 dB, bandwidth enhancement to 2.65 GHz from a simulated 2.36 GHz, and a measured gain of 4.13 dB, surpassing the simulated 3.75 dB. The omnidirectional radiation pattern highlights the antenna's ability to deliver uniform signal coverage. These results validate the proposed antenna's capability to enhance backhaul transmission, offering a robust solution for next-generation communication systems requiring reliable, and high-performance connectivity.
