IoT Enabled Instrumental Cluster for Electrical Vehicles
The instrumental cluster consists of dynamic characteristics and electrical parameters of the electrical vehicle ranging in both dynamic and static scenarios. The instrumental cluster stores data such as battery (SOC), battery and transmission system temperatures and operational voltage in addition it also tracks the regenerative current, the RPM of the motor, and dynamic variables such as location and speed of the electrical vehicle. The main objective of the instrumental cluster is to give an accurate measurement of the SOC and based on the vehicle's speed in which it's travelling the remaining distance is also calculated and the data is stored in the instrumental cluster and is displayed for the driver. It can monitor all the vehicle parameters in a monitor through remote access and even on mobile phones, this can achieve through the help of integration of the Internet of Things (IoT) within the instrumental cluster. In this system, these are using I2C, VE Direct, and line protocols for smooth and efficient transmission of data and data acquisition and transmission it has two different approaches. In the primary method the data are captured by a sensor and the transmission of the data is done through I2C Protocol and the ESP32 module and the line protocol is used for cloud-bound data transfer. The second method, where the Victron shunt takes multiple readings in a single unit and the data that is stored and aggregated is transferred through VE Direct protocol in a cloud storage. It makes use of INFLUX DB for accessing data monitoring and management. The data that is collected is displayed through the instrumental cluster's display with an external monitor connected to a Raspberry Pi 4B+ running Venus OS.
