Logogenic strategies for the development of language skills in deaf children and adolescents
Objective: to analyze the main methodological resources of logogenics in order to reflect on its contribution to the development of language skills in children and adolescents with prelinguistic hearing impairment. Logogenics, developed by Bruna Radelli, is a method that facilitates the acquisition of Spanish and other languages in prelinguistic deaf children and adolescents through reading and writing. Based on generative grammar, it relies on the innate ability to understand and produce sentences. The results show that logogeny allows these students to read and write autonomously, understanding and producing diverse sentences. This article contributes to a series of reflections on the fact that, although logogenics does not focus exclusively on the teaching of reading and writing, the latter becomes an essential means to reflect on language and develop linguistic competences in this population.
