A Study on Current Issues and Improvement Strategies for School Unification Education: Focusing on the 2022 Revised Elementary Curriculum
This study aims to specifically examining the current issues of unification education as a cross-curricular learning theme in the 2022 revised elementary curriculum and proposing strategies for improvement. The study proposed three strategies for effective unification education based on its findings. First, it is necessary to explicitly specify cross-curricular learning themes and the required instructional hours at the legislative level. Maintaining declarative provisions such as “requested” or “should be reflected,” as is currently the case, makes it difficult to ensure the effectiveness and continuity of education. Second, efforts should extend beyond merely including cross-curricular themes in the national curriculum plan. Progress should be encouraged through mechanisms such as school evaluations and curriculum assessments. Third, despite the negative perceptions surrounding cross-curricular themes, institutional improvements are needed, such as providing incentives for front-line teachers who conduct education with a strong sense of mission.
