Key indicators in the planning, development and selection of higher education academic programs
The Objective was to diagnose the acceptance of academic programs by comparing careers, their growth trends, their competitiveness in the career market, and their relevance with school enrollment data. Applicable for diagnosis and promotion in planning and management departments, with the simple use of spreadsheets. We worked with 267 careers in the state of Coahuila, forming indicators with descriptive statistics in terms of Size, Renewal Index, and location in a Matrix of relevance that locates each program. With this universe, four size categories were compared the total enrollment, called Macro, Large, Medium, and Small, and the Student Renewal Index in five categories: Clear Growth, Medium Growth, Low Growth, At Risk, and In Extinction. With the size of the career and its renewal index, the Competitive Position was located in graphs, and the Relevance Matrix in tables.
