Effects of the use of vermicompost leachate on pecan nut (Carya illinoinensis) cultivation
This project evaluated the effect of vermicompost leachate on pecan trees and soil using a splitplot design with five treatments: T1 (one year of application), T2 (two years), T3 (six years), T4 (seven years), and a control with no application. The doses applied were 300 L ha⁻¹ during flood irrigation, 200 L ha⁻¹ in the first auxiliary irrigation, and 100 L ha⁻¹ in the third and fourth auxiliary irrigations. In plants, N, organic matter (OM), kernel percentage, and yield were analyzed, while in soil, N, OM, pH, electrical conductivity (EC), texture, and bulk density were evaluated. Using ANOVA and Tukey's test (p = 0.05), T3 and T4 showed higher soil N (0.17% and 0.15%) and OM (2.4% and 2.5%). In plants, T1 had the highest OM (15.8%) and N (2.4%), while T3 achieved the greatest nut weight (6.72 g) and kernel percentage (59.67%). Vermicompost leachate improves nutrients with regular applications.
