User Friendly and Safe Navigation of Tourists in Oman Using a Mobile Application

Tourism can enhance new investments and the national income of countries. Tourists face many difficulties such as getting details about the tourist attractions while organizing their trips. These challenges affect the planning of trips but also their safety. This paper discusses the development and implementation of a tourism application in the Sultanate of Oman designed to serve tourists and residents alike. The application provides basic information and precautionary guidance about tourist areas, helping users navigate and avoid risks associated with the location. In addition, it offers services such as hotel reservations, car rentals, and delivery options. The application, called “Tourism in Oman” (TiO), highlights various tourist sites and provides safety instructions regarding difficult-to-access roads, slopes, and other hazards that must be avoided. Recognizing tourism as an important economic activity, the paper emphasizes its impact on national income and investment. With the digital revolution changing how travelers plan their trips, the TiO app meets the needs of modern travellers, reflecting the shift from manual bookings to the use of mobile apps, as evidenced by over a billion people using mobile travel apps and nearly a billion individuals traveling in 2019 [12].
