The significance of religious moderation between islam and chinese in Bangka Island in fostering and maintaining the unitary state of the Republic of Indonesia

The importance of religious moderation is because diversity in religion is inevitable and impossible to eliminate. Religious moderation between Islam and Chinese in Bangka is well established. It has been established for a very long time. Religious moderation can certainly foster and maintain the integrity of the country. The purpose of this study is to explain the significance of religious moderation between Islam and Chinese in Bangka Island in maintaining the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia. Researchers use the type of field research. The method is used a qualitative descriptive method. The approach in this research uses a historical sociological approach. The data sources in this research consist of primary and secondary sources. Data collection techniques are carried out by participant observation, in-depth interview, and documentation. Data analysis technique are carried out by data collection, data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of this study are the significance of religious moderation between Islam and Chinese in Bangka Island in maintaining the integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia is as follows: First, national commitment; Second, Tolerance; Third, accommodating to local culture; and Fourth, nonviolence.
