Fabrication and Characterization of Polyvinyl Alchol/Polycaprolactone/Chitosan Nanofibers as Nanocomposite Membranes
In the recent work, biodegradable poly (ε-caprolactone), chitosan, polyvinyl alcohol and titanium dioxide-incorporated PCL/CS/Nano TiO2, PVA/CS/nano TiO2 nanofibers have been prepared via electrospinning technique to evaluate the structural and surface compatibility of these scaffolds for skin tissue engineering. The antioxidant activity has been also investigated of PCL/CS/Nano TiO2 and PVA/CS/nano TiO2 loaded with Rifampicin as an Antibiotics. Due to their structural similarity to natural extracellular matrix proteins, which play a crucial role in directing cutaneous wound healing, nanofibers have gained interest as materials to stimulate skin regeneration. Scaffolds made of nanofibers have been tested for use in tissue engineering of the skin. Field Emotion Scanning Electron Microscopy (FESEM), Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), contact angle measurement, Energy Dispersion X-ray spectroscopy (EDX), swelling test, and degradation test have been used to examine the morphology, interaction between various materials, surface property, and presence of TiO2. The results demonstrate that PVA/CS/nano TiO2 and PCL/CS/nano TiO2 membranes loaded with 50 mg extracts and Rifampicin had inhibition zones of 20 and 19, respectively. The swelling and the biodegradability of PCL/CS/nano TiO2 and PVA/CS/nano TiO2 membranes have been also investigated. Extract-loaded CS-PVA membranes have risen in biodegradability and have reduced in swelling. The absence of beads in the FESEM analysis confirms the development of nanofibers. The contact angle result has demonstrated an increase in the hydrophilicity of PCL/CS/nano TiO2 and PVA/CS/nano TiO2 and the FTIR result confirmed the presence of TiO2 on (PCL+PC) (PVA+CS) scaffold.
