A Practical Approach to Evaluate Static Equipment Criticality for the Central Processing Plant

The oil and gas sectors include various static and rotating equipment, control devices, and supporting tools for plant operations. Maintaining these assets' integrity is crucial, as implementing a systematic screening approach to assess the criticality level of the assets so that resource allocation can be optimized to maintain the integrity of the critical assets. The assessment can be accomplished either quantitatively or qualitatively. Quantitative analysis relies on extensive data to get precise results, while qualitative analysis is used in situations with limited data availability. However, analyzing quantitatively in some fields is hard due to disorganized and incomplete data during the handover of oil field operators. The research presents a realistic methodology for assessing the criticality of static equipment and addressing this difficulty. This method utilizes field data collected on-site and then models it numerically. Secondary failure data is used as the starting point for the likelihood of failure modeling, which is subsequently modified to account for real-world field conditions. The study analyzes the criticality of static equipment at the Central Processing Plant (CPP) operating in the Java Sea. The conducted Static Equipment Criticality Analysis (SECA) shows that the evaluated static equipment accurately reflects its criticality levels under current operational settings, regardless of data restrictions. This practical methodology makes a significant addition to the industry by offering a dependable method for criticality analysis that addresses the difficulties caused by insufficient data in the oil and gas sector. The SECA results will be useful for allocating resources to maintain the integrity of the critical equipment.
