Homothetic Covering of Crosspolytopes

The exact value of Γm(K), which is the least positive number γ such that a convex body K can be covered by m translates of γK, is usually difficult to obtain. We present exact values of Γ14(B13), Γ11(B14), Γ2n(B1n), Γ2n+1(B1n), and Γ2n+2(B1n), where B1n is the unit ball of Rn endowed with the taxicab norm.

Abstract

The exact value of Γm(K), which is the least positive number γ such that a convex body K can be covered by m translates of γK, is usually difficult to obtain. We present exact values of Γ14(B13), Γ11(B14), Γ2n(B1n), Γ2n+1(B1n), and Γ2n+2(B1n), where B1n is the unit ball of Rn endowed with the taxicab norm.
