A color holographic display utilizing the angle compensation method

• This paper analyzes the sources of error related to compensating for chromatic aberration in traditional color holographic displays . • We propose a method of angle compensation as a solution to transverse chromatic aberration in color holographic displays. • The proposed method offers a more advantageous approach to wavelength selection and simplifies the design process. This paper presents a novel method for enhancing the quality of color holographic displays through angle compensation, aimed at addressing the inherent limitations of traditional chromatic aberration correction techniques. The method involves compensating for and correcting chromatic aberration within the display system by adjusting the incident angle of the light source on the spatial light modulator (SLM) holographic display device. The proposed approach seeks to overcome the limitations of conventional color holographic display systems while preserving the quality of the resulting holograms. It simplifies the process of chromatic aberration compensation in hologram design, enhances the precision of this compensation, and reduces the demanding performance requirements typically placed on display devices. Furthermore, the study examines the introduction of an error in the digital blazed grating to address positional chromatic aberration, demonstrating that this method can improve color uniformity and overall holographic display quality. Finally, the feasibility of the proposed method is verified through numerical simulations and optical experiments. This advancement is expected to facilitate the development of high-performance, high-quality, simplified, and compact color holographic display systems in the future.
