A ACURÁCIA DA ULTRASSONOGRAFIA NA AVALIAÇÃO DA INSUFICIÊNCIA ISTMO-CERVICAL EM GESTANTES DE ALTO RISCO
Abstract: Cervical insufficiency is a challenging obstetric condition often associated with late miscarriages and preterm births, significantly impacting maternal and fetal health. This study aimed to review the main techniques used in managing cervical insufficiency, evaluating diagnostic and therapeutic advances to improve pregnancy outcomes. The review followed PRISMA guidelines, with searches in databases such as PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, Medline Ovid, and SciELO, resulting in the analysis of 483 studies, 12 of which were included for detailed discussion. The results highlight that techniques such as cervical elastography, pessary use, cerclage, and progesterone therapy have contributed to reducing preterm birth risks, extending pregnancy duration, and improving maternal-fetal quality of life. However, barriers such as unequal access to technologies and the need for professional training were identified. It is concluded that an integrated approach, combining advanced diagnostics and therapies with traditional practices, is essential to optimize management and improve accessibility.
