Development of E-Waste Classification and Segregation with Motor Control Using YOLOv7

The fast development of technology has caused an alarming rise in electronic waste. Mismanaged electronic waste poses health risks for users and locals in the area. E-waste pollution can harm the environment and the climate. This study aims to reduce the environmental pollution and health hazards caused bye-waste that is segregated improperly. This study develops an E-waste classification and segregation based on the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE directive) and a segregation system with motor control using YOLOv7. A graphical user interface is developed to monitor the bin's capacity. A confusion matrix is used to compute the system's accuracy. The model has the highest precision at 93.75% for classifying and segregating ferrous metal. The recall for classifying others is highest at 94.00%, and an F1 score for ferrous metals is 91.84 %. The system has an overall accuracy of 88.40%.
