Study on the effect of fracture on acoustic wave attenuation while drilling
The development of fracture directly affects the storage performance of the reservoir. In order to better evaluate the fracture information, this paper numerically simulates the fractured formation under drilling conditions using COMSOL Multiphysics finite element software, and investigates the influence laws of different fracture widths and fracture zone densities on the attenuation of transverse and stoneley waves. The results show that in the presence of a horizontal fracture next to the well, direct stoneley waves and reflected stoneley waves are observed in the full wave train; The increase of fracture width and fracture zone density will cause the energy attenuation of transverse and stoneley waves; The attenuation coefficients increase with the increase of fracture width in a power function law, and with the increase of fracture zone density in an exponential function law; Stoneley waves are more sensitive to the fracture zone density than transverse waves.
