Implementing MediaPipe for Assessing ACL Injury Risk: Methodologies, Real-Time Monitoring, and Practical Applications

In order to evaluate the risk of Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) injuries during deep leaps, jump cuts, and single-leg jumps, this study investigates the use of MediaPipe. The research evaluates the system's potential for practical applications in sports training, rehabilitation, and injury prevention programs. A prototype was tested on 12 participants, including six athletes and six average physically active individuals. To assess the system's accuracy, results from the prototype were compared with a professional coach's analysis. Using Cohen's Kappa Analysis, a strong agreement between the prototype and the coach's evaluation was found, with agreement rates of 81.7% for depth jumps, 82.5% for jump cuts, 81.3% for single-leg jumps (right), and 80.3% for single-leg jumps (left). Recommendations for improvement include expanding the system's exercise repertoire, providing real-time corrective feedback, and incorporating a larger LCD display for enhanced data visualization. These improvements aim to increase the system's effectiveness in a wider range of athletic training and injury prevention scenarios.
