Perfil psicológico deportivo y ansiedad estado en función del género en deportistas universitarios
The present study analyzes the relationship between the sport psychological profile with the state of anxiety in university athletes, as well as possible differences according to gender (women vs. men). A total of 262 Mexican university students (women, n=123; men, n=139) between 18 and 23 years of age participated in this study. The Psychological Inventory of Sport Performance (IPED) and the Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI) were used as assessment tools. Results indicated statistically significant relationships between the sport psychological profile with anxiety measures. Negative coping control was the psychological skill that best predicted anxiety levels in women, in men it was self-confidence and attentional control. Likewise, the data found highlighted statistically significant differences between women and men, both in sport psychological profile and in anxiety.
