A cartografia social em teses de doutorado no Brasil

This article aims to analyze how social cartography has been present in doctoral theses in Brazil between the years 2021 and 2024. To achieve this objective, a survey was conducted on the thesis and dissertation platform of the Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior (CAPES), focusing on theses that employed social cartography. The information found was tabulated, and the findings were analyzed using the metaresearch methodology. Within the established time frame, 28 Brazilian theses were identified. To this end, the following specific objectives were outlined: to search for the theses and tabulate them; to analyze the tabulation of the theses through the metaresearch methodology; and to discuss the findings of the tabulation. As a result, the research found that social cartography is present in doctoral research across all regions of Brazil. It is employed as a methodology aimed at valuing the knowledge of social groups about their territories, allowing the subjects themselves to map their realities and fostering a collective construction of knowledge that emphasizes the protagonism of the social groups involved.
