Note from the Editors—March 2025
The Year 2024 was again very successful for Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata with 110 published articles, including seven mini-reviews and two special issues. Three members of our Associate Editors team stepped down (Anke Steppuhn, Sharon Zytynska and Derek Dunn) and two new members have joined (Jean-Christophe Billeter and Simon Bahrndorff). We also saw some welcome additions to our Editorial Board. As of 1 January 2025, our publisher Wiley has taken over many of the editorial office tasks. Entomologia Experimentalis et Applicata has been doing well last year. We are in the top quarter of entomology journals (Scopus). In 2024, we published 99 original articles, seven mini-reviews, two introductory articles and two technical notes online—a total of 110 papers. The 2024 volume included two special issues, namely ‘Proceedings of the 7th International Entomophagous Insects Conference’ (guest-edited by Dr. Maria Fernanda Cingolani, Dr. Diego Segura and Dr. Eric Wajnberg) and ‘Biotremology’ (guest-edited by Dr. Rachele Nieri and Dr. Valerio Mazzoni), and 10 regular issues. It featured special sections on ‘Larval Diet Effects on Adult Life History’, ‘Behavior and Pest Control’, ‘Insect–plant Interactions’ (twice), ‘Predatory Bugs in Biological Control’, ‘Foraging Behaviour’ and ‘Herbivory and Biological Control of Weeds’. In 2024, our team of Associate Editors underwent a few changes. Dr. Anke Steppuhn (University of Hohenheim, Germany) and Dr. Sharon Zytynska (University of Liverpool, UK) stepped down, and long-term member Dr. Derek Dunn (University of Nottingham, UK) retired after 9 years of outstanding service. We are extremely thankful for the many significant contributions they have made to the journal's success in its recent history! At the same time, we welcomed two new Associate Editors: Dr. Jean-Christophe Billeter and Dr. Simon Bahrndorff. Jean-Christophe Billeter holds the chair of neurogenetics of social behaviour at the University of Groningen, the Netherlands. He is well known internationally for his work on social interactions and mating behaviour in Drosophila. Simon Bahrndorff is a professor at Aalborg University, Denmark. His research interest is on terrestrial invertebrates and their physiological adaptation, including the effects of temperature and insect–bacteria interactions on host fitness across different environments. We are pleased to be working with Jean-Christophe and Simon! We welcomed three new Editorial Board members, who are former associate editors: Dr. Anke Steppuhn, Dr. Sharon Zytynska and Dr. Derek Dunn. We trust they will help attract a wide range of high-quality manuscripts to the journal, and signal interesting developments in their respective fields of expertise, which may make for suitable subjects for invited review articles and future special issues. From January 2025 onwards, our publisher Wiley is responsible for most of the editorial office tasks in order to keep the journal competitive within the changing publication landscape. We are very grateful to Jan Bruin, who has been responsible for the high-quality copy-editing of manuscripts for many years. We look forward to continuing our fruitful collaboration with Wiley under the new arrangements. Finally, we would like to take the opportunity to ask you for topics for review articles and special issues. If you have an idea for a timely mini-review or theme issue (not necessarily to be written or edited by yourself), we invite you to contact us at: [email protected]. Leo W. Beukeboom: Conceptualization; writing – original draft. Marianne J. van der Peijl: Writing – review and editing. Elvira S. de Lange: Writing – review and editing.
