End-to-end optical keratoplasty with simultaneous reimplantation of an intraocular lens (clinical case)

Organ-preserving operations are among the global trends in modern surgery. The method and scope of surgery are selected based on several factors: maximum scope of surgical intervention, minimal invasiveness, and desire for a single-stage procedure. And, as a result of microinvasive interventions, a minimal rehabilitation period for patients of different ages. The problem of treating epithelial-endothelial dystrophy is currently relevant at all levels of specialized medical care and requires an individual approach in each case. Objective. To assess the effectiveness of penetrating optical keratoplasty with simultaneous reimplantation of an intraocular lens. The article describes a case of penetrating keratoplasty with simultaneous reimplantation of an intraocular lens in patient K., 44 years old, diagnosed with: OS - Consequence of injury: pseudophakia (T-19, suture adaptation of the cornea), epithelial-endothelial dystrophy of the cornea (II – III stage), postoperative corneal scar; OD – initial cataract Conclusions. Penetrating optical keratoplasty with simultaneous reimplantation of the intraocular lens is an effective technique that improves visual function, reduces the time the patient spends in hospital, reduces the duration of the rehabilitation period and allows for early social adaptation. Keywords: penetrating keratoplasty, epithelial-endothelial corneal dystrophy, reimplantation of the intraocular lens
