Long-term clinical and functional results of implantation of the domestic monofocal intraocular lens RPR-2
Purpose. To evaluate the clinical and functional results of implantation of a monofocal intraocular lens RPR-2 (Reper-NN, Russia) after ultrasound phacoemulsification of uncomplicated cataracts within 1 year after surgery. Material and methods. 109 patients (134 eyes) with uncomplicated cataracts were included in the study. The average age of the patients was 70 years. Data from one IOLMaster 700 device (Zeiss, Germany), the theoretical online Kane formula and the optical A-constant recommended by the manufacturer (A = 119.1) were used to standardize IOL calculations. The observation period after cataract phacoemulsification with intraocular lens implantation (FEC+IOL) is 1 year. Results. 1 year after FEC+IOL, uncorrected visual acuity on a decimal scale was 0.67 ± 0.03, best-corrected visual acuity was 0.87 ± 0.02, the average deviation of the spherical equivalent from the target refraction was 0.33 ± 0.09, the average deviation of the spherical equivalent from the planned refraction according to Kane is 0.40 ± 0.08. The predictability of the spherical equivalent of the planned target refraction within ± 0.5 D was 52.6 %, within ± 1.0 D — 32.6 %, more than ± 1.0 D — 14.7 %. Conclusion. The RPR-2 IOL ensures stable refraction and predictable refractive results. Considering the slight hypermetropic shift due to a change in the effective position of the IOL 1 year after the operation, customization of the A-constant is recommended. Further studies with longer follow-up periods are needed. Keywords: intraocular lens, ultrasonic phacoemulsification of cataract, intraocular lens RPR-2.
