Experimental of Microstrip Filter using Parallel Coupled Resonator for S-Band Weather Radar
The growing significance of weather data today is evident as it plays a crucial role in the creation and execution of initiatives across various sectors like development, agriculture, tourism, and other economic activities. Weather radar is instrumental in identifying clouds and tracking their movements, as well as measuring rain distribution and intensity, wind direction and speed, and detecting storms. Around the weather radar frequency $2.7-2.9 \mathrm{GHz}$ there are an earth exploration satellite frequency at $2.69-2.7 \mathrm{GHz}$, and a navigation radio frequency at $2.9-3.1 \mathrm{GHz}$. Therefore, Frequencies above need to be selected, so that the weather radar gets good detection results. So that, a part is needed to fix problems the weather radar system. Bandpass filters are one type of filter that can be used. So, a method is needed to widen the bandwidth. Method that can be used is a parallel coupled resonator. Parameters that will be measured from the simulation results with measurement results are return loss $\leqslant-$ 10 dB, bandwidth $=200 \mathrm{MHz}$, and insertion loss $\geqslant 3 \mathrm{~dB}$. This research uses Ansoft HFSS 13.0. The simulation results obtained a return loss of $\mathbf{- 2 5. 3 1} \mathrm{dB}$, an insertion loss of $\mathbf{- 2. 9 1} \mathrm{dB}$, and a bandwidth of 410 MHz in frequency $2,8 \mathrm{GHz}$. Meanwhile, the measurement results obtained a return loss of -15.69 dB, insertion loss $-\mathbf{3. 8 8} \mathrm{dB}$, and a bandwidth of 130 MHz in frequency 2.8 GHz.
