Innovative Variable Structure PWM Method with the Nearest-Level Modulation Technique in a Five-Level Multilevel Inverter
Multilevel inverters are widely used in high-power applications due to their ability to generate high-quality waveforms with reduced harmonic content and electromagnetic interference. This paper presents a novel variable structure pulse width modulation (PWM) technique for a five-level H-bridge multilevel inverter. The proposed PWM technique utilizes the nearest-level modulation (NLM) principle to reduce the computational burden and improve the efficiency of the inverter. The implementation of the proposed PWM technique on a five-level H-bridge multilevel inverter is described, and experimental results are presented to evaluate its performance.
