A Configurable EEG Procesing Driver Chip for Wireless Wearable Devices
This paper presents a Brain Computer Interface (BCI) chip for wearable EEG processing devices, with functions of EEG preprocessing like fixed and configurable band filtering, mean calculation and baseline correction etc., as well as functions of interfacing the ADC and blue tooth modules. Approximate compressors and circuits are applied in the chip design for better delay-area-power efficiency, with the addition of the clock gating scheme, more reduction of power is achieved. The fixed band filters and configurable IIR band filters provides the chip more flexibility in feature extractions. The host computer can configure the chip with custom parameters and commands via the blue tooth module, and the processed data can be sent back reversely. Fabricated in 130 CMOS, the chip was measured individually and in the test board of the wearable device prototype. The proposed chip can operate from the supply of 1.5 V to 0.5 V, and it consumes only 1 mW at $0.85 \text{V}, 2 \text{MHz}$, with valid interactions to the test board.
