Facilitating College English Learning and Teaching through Mobile Technology

“The Internet” has brought significant changes to the development of education because mobile learning has the characteristics of portability, timeliness, interactivity, fragmentation, and personalization, which can facilitate English learners to make use of fragmented time to carry out language learning on their own, and also help teachers on language teaching more flexibly. Using a questionnaire, this study investigates the current situation of mobile learning among students from the intact university: objectives, modes, types of resources, learning effects, and the attitude toward learning mobile technology. The results show that more than 70% of the students believe mobile learning can improve the efficiency and autonomy of English learning. In addition, this paper puts forward several suggestions for teachers to use mobile devices to assist teaching based on students' feedback to help teachers improve the quality of English teaching.
