Design and Development of Extended Reality Environment for 3-Dimensional Model Experience

This paper explores the potential of Extended Reality (XR) in enhancing engineering education through the integration of advanced 3D model interaction and visualization technologies. Utilizing SolidWorks and Blender for model creation and Unity for XR application development, this project provides an immersive learning platform that enables users to interact with complex 3D models using the PICO 4 VR headset. The project demonstrates significant advancements in educational methodologies by enabling a hands-on, interactive learning experience that improves comprehension of spatial and mechanical relationships. Key achievements include the successful integration of detailed 3D models from SolidWorks into an interactive XR environment in Unity, enhancing the educational process and potentially reducing reliance on physical resources, thus aligning with sustainable educational practices. This approach not only enriches users' learning experiences but also prepares them for modern engineering challenges, fostering innovation in teaching methodologies across disciplines.
