Research on the Application of Artificial Intelligence Tools in English Writing Assessment

The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) tools represented by ChatGPT has had a huge impact on the education. These tools not only bring empowerment and benefits, but also raise concerns in the education and academic communities. This paper takes the assessment of English writing as an example to analyze the differences between AI tool and professional teachers. Secondly, this paper will also focus on the evaluation of AI tool and discuss its applicability as a method for assessment paper writing. In addition, this paper reveals the potential fairness, effectiveness, and interactivity issues that AI tool may bring when used for assessment. Finally, two strategies for scientifically using AI tools were proposed: building a comprehensive assessment dimension and improving the credibility of the assessment.
