Laser-Assisted rGO: A Metal-Free Electrochemical Sensor for Detection of Neurotransmitter Dopamine

The present report portrays the laser-assisted synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (LrGO) and its structural, morphological, and electrochemical properties were investigated. X-ray diffraction analysis of LrGO revealed a persistent corrugated structure of rGO sheets and confirmed due to the existence of characteristics (002) and (111) peaks. Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy showed major peaks for -OH stretching at 3401 cm −1 , C=C stretching at 1601 cm −1 , and lattice vibrational modes at 467 cm −1 , indicating a reduction of graphene oxide. The microstructural analysis of LrGO depicted stacked layers of LrGO with identifiable edges and folding due to the strong van der Waals forces. The superior sensitivity and electrocatalytic activity of dopamine (DA)-detecting approach by the LrGO/Pt electrode revealed from electrochemical studies using cyclic voltammetry and differential pulse voltammetry were characterized, and enhanced peak currents were reproduced. High stability and efficiency were shown by this LrGO/Pt electrode, which makes the material a promising candidate for further research in sensitive and selective DA detection.
