Posttraumatic Stress Disorder and Pregnancy Outcomes
Screening results positive for PTSD are associated with positive screen results for depression and risk of alcohol use during pregnancy, with no differences in outcomes. Although we identified no differences in pregnancy outcomes based on PTSD screening results, comorbidities of traumatic stress such as depression and alcohol use disorder may have long-term consequences on maternal and fetal health. Further research is warranted to understand the effect of behavioral health disorders on pregnancy.
