Effect of platelet-rich plasma on the prognosis of elderly degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis

To investigate the effect of platelet-rich plasma on the prognosis of elderly degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis by interfering with the catabolism of lumbar interbody fusion bone graft. A total of 100 elderly patients with degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis admitted to our hospital were recruited as the study objects. According to the treatment plan, the patients were divided into control group (n = 50) and experimental group (n = 50). The control group received conventional drug treatment during lateral lumbar interbody fusion surgery, and the experimental group received platelet-rich plasma therapy during interbody fusion surgery. The rate of interbody fusion in the experimental group was higher than that in the control group ( P < 0.05). At 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after surgery, the spinal ROM of the experimental group was higher than that of the control group ( P < 0.05). At 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after surgery, the ODI score of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group ( P < 0.05). The VAS score of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group at 1 month, 3 months and 6 months after surgery ( P < 0.05). The complication rate of the experimental group was lower than that of the control group (P < 0.05). Platelet-rich plasma significantly improves interbody fusion rates, improves spinal range of motion and functional recovery, and effectively reduces postoperative pain while reducing the risk of surgical complications during lumbar fusion surgery for the treatment of degenerative lumbar spinal stenosis in the elderly.
