Overview of Vegetables and Fruits Sold at the Supply Center of the State of Pará

Objective: Present an overview of the marketing of vegetables and fruits sold at the Pará State Supply Center (Ceasa-PA). Theoretical Framework: It is based on the characterization of Ceasa-PA's profile, as well as the classifications of the fruits and vegetables that are sold in this commercial establishment. Method: The study was carried out at Ceasa-PA, and its main method was qualitative and quantitative exploratory research. Results and Discussion: The applied statistics, comparing medians (Kruskal-wallis test), showed that there was a significant difference between fruits and vegetables; fruits and vegetables; foliage and root vegetables, where p < 0.05. and, in the period from 2018 to 2022, the average annual circulation in Ceasa-PA was practically 50% (124.7 x 103 tons) of the “Fruit” category, followed by “root vegetables” (~25%; 60.8 x 103 tons); “Fruit vegetables” (~15%; 37.9 x 103 tons) and “foliage vegetables” (~10%; 13.2 x 103 tons). The same proportion of products sold were wasted vegetables, such as bananas and oranges, potatoes and onions, tomatoes and peppers, and cabbage, in the respective categories. Research Implications: The research contributes to knowledge of the local community, including farmers, sellers and customers, and the commercial profile of Ceasa-PA. It can also offer a basis for the formulation of public policies and internal protocols monitored by the establishment's Managers and Employees. Originality/Value: The study proposes to explore the types of fruit and vegetables sold and the commercial relationships carried out by Ceasa-PA. Based on the data obtained in this research and their treatment, it becomes possible to improve public policies.
