Numerical Study on Variation of Natural Frequency & Frequency Response with Voltage Excited Inclined Piezo at Different Locations on the Plate
The concept of piezoelectricity forms the foundation of this study, as the piezoelectric element plays a pivotal role in transforming electrical energy into mechanical deformation and vice versa. By applying a voltage to the piezoelectric material, controlled deformation, and vibrations can be induced in the attached plate. This phenomenon is crucial in numerous engineering applications, ranging from vibration control and energy harvesting to sensing and actuation. One key aspect of the project is the exploration of natural frequency variation. Natural frequency, a fundamental property of mechanical systems, determines the rate at which the plate vibrates when subjected to an external force. The research delves into how changes in voltage excitation affect the shear stress of the plate piezoelectric assembly. Understanding these variations is essential for optimizing the performance of such systems in practical applications such as de-icing of aeroplane wings. Additionally, this paper investigates the frequency response characteristics of the system. Frequency response analysis provides insights into how the system behaves across different frequencies of excitation. This knowledge is invaluable for designing and fine-tuning devices that rely on the dynamic response of piezoelectric-integrated structures. A comprehensive numerical investigation into the dynamic behaviour of a plate integrated with a piezoelectric element under varying voltage excitations on different locations of the plate. The study focuses on understanding the variation of the plate piezoelectric system's natural frequency and frequency response, aiming to elucidate the intricacies of this coupled system's vibrational characteristics. The research methodology involves finite element analysis (FEA) simulations, which enable a detailed examination of the system's response to different voltage inputs. Simulation is done using ANSYS Software.
