Multi-Function Coastal Radar for Tsunami Detection And Ocean Wave Monitoring

This research developed an application of SIMRAD Halo radar 6, including the Compressed Pulse Radar types. Compressed Pulse Radar was used because of its high resolution, all-weather operation, and long range; in this research, the development of multi-functional coastal intelligent radar technology for marine wave detection and monitoring is carried out. The Radar was developed based on the Compressed Pulse Radar used in marine Radar, which could detect surrounding objects at a distance of $\gt100 \text{km}$ at sea. In this research, the radar detection function is reversed, namely only detecting sea water levels, generally considered clutter. This research leads to the classification of Radar at a certain height being read as a warning of a Tsunami. Compressed Pulse Radar in this research uses a mixture of signals, i.e., Pulse Signal and Chirps Signal, and is indicated by a specific Bandwidth. Monitoring is carried out to detect the possibility of a tsunami and determine the behavior of ocean waves, which can be detected in real-time. The initial test in this research is to recognize the pins used for telecommunication functions on the Radar, such as Tx, Rx, Frequency, and signal types, such as Pulse and chirp. The compressed Pulse Radar in this research is a Digital Radar, and it is necessary to open the Pedestal section to find the ADC position and other parts that can represent Analog Signals that simplify the Radar Filtering process such that Sea Waves can be used as specific data.
