Performance Evaluation of Traction Motor through Load and No-Load Testing for Industrial Applications
This paper presents a performance evaluation of a squirrel cage induction traction motor through both load and no-load testing for industrial applications. The no-load test was conducted to quantify core and mechanical losses, while the load test assessed efficiency, power factor, and torque-speed characteristics under varying load conditions. The results offer a comprehensive insight into the motor’s operational performance, aiding in the optimization of motor operation for energy savings and enhanced reliability. The findings indicate that the motor operates most efficiently under partial load, making it highly suitable for medium-scale industrial environments where load variation is common.
