Schmitt Trigger Design And Performance Evaluation Using CMOS and FinFET Devices
Schmitt triggers are excellent feedback devices that transform time-varying signals into pulse waves. It is used as a comparator in existing analog-to-digital conversion circuits and is used in communications due to its noise-reducing power. Schmitt trigger is an important element in digital circuits and provides noise protection and hysteresis for signal amplification. In this paper, we designed, 45nm low power CMOS design technology Schmitt trigger and achieved a modified FinFET method to reduce power consumption in 6 and 4 transistor circuits. Depending on the technology, various parameters need to be calculated and analysed to determine the efficiency of the cycle. The latency, average power and hysteresis width were determined and compared to CMOS and FinFET technology. The average power of the four-transistor circuit using FINFET technology is -0.9uw, while the average power of the 6-transistor circuit is 0.9uw, which is lower than the traditional CMOS power. The power of four CMOS transistors is generally 3uw and 8uw for six transistors. Each six-transistor circuit was simulated in Cadence's Virtuoso tool and the results were compared.
