The visibility of Lgbtiq+ content in undergraduate nursing curricula: A qualitative analysis of student, early career nurse and educator perspectives
Australian LGBTIQ+ curricula is perceived as unimpactful, potentially harmful and may vary between institutions. This points toward a need for standardised content and teaching across nursing programmes to ensure, all nurses graduate with a minimum level of competence in caring for LGBTIQ+ patients. Strength-based approaches to teaching, Cultural Safety education, reformed policies and further investigation into a national LGBTIQ+ curricula framework may work toward addressing the current curricula challenges.
