Análisis e intervención para la mejora del tiro libre en baloncesto de formación

Introduction: The aim of this study was to analyze the incidence of an intervention program for the improvement of free throw shooting in a basketball team in training stages from the design of tasks carried out through the previous study of the actions that lead to free throws during the competition. Material and method: The sample in this study was a U13 boys' basketball team competing in the gold category of the Murcia Basketball Federation. To follow this procedure, a total of four games and 19 training sessions were analyzed over two months of competition, recording a total of 70 personal fouls that led to at least one free throw attempt. The following variables were analyzed for each personal foul: a) moment, b) place, c) attack phase, d) tactical numerical situation, e) previous individual action, f) body orientation, g) situation of the player when receiving the foul, h) offense on, i) control of the mobile, j) type of possession, k) offense of, l) type of offense, m) repercussion, n) effectiveness and o) number of points obtained. Results: The most significant results indicate that: (a) the place where more fouls were received is inside zone, (b) the actions in which more fouls were received were when the team was in counterattack and the player was in 1x1, (c) the predominant impact was the one deriving in the number of two free throws during the study, d) the percentage of free throw efficiency was lower before the intervention, but the number of points scored from the actions performed was higher, given that in the post-intervention games there was a greater number of basket and personal foul situations, where the points from the basket are added, even if the free throw was missed. Discussion: These results indicate that the free throw can be improved from a more qualitative than quantitative value thanks to the instructions and guidelines followed during this study, but finally it must be concluded that it will be up to each coach to adapt the training to the level and needs of his players.
