Development of a Microrobot Screening System Driven by Combined Magnetic Fields and Optoelectronic Tweezers

Drug-loaded microrobots can be utilized for targeted drug delivery. However, the probability of drug loading onto microrobots ranges only between 50% and 90%. To enhance the drug-carrying capacity of the final microrobots, we developed a microrobot screening system (MRSS). MRSS employs a hybrid driving method by combining electromagnetic drive and optoelectronic tweezers (OET) drive, along with the introduction of visual image recognition, to achieve the goal of excluding non-drug-carrying microrobots. MRSS allows for efficient removal of microrobots not carrying drugs from the swarm, with the potential to exclude multiple targets simultaneously. MRSS has broad application prospects in cell screening, assembly, and monitoring.
