A Compact Nested Triangular Loop Antenna for Quad-band Wireless Application

In this article, a compact CPW-fed antenna with a triangular nested loop for multiband resonance is presented. It offers compactness and multiband performance by using triangular loop components. The antenna is constructed with four triangular loops, where each loop is responsible for quad-band resonance, and the optimized geometry of the proposed antenna is 20 × 20 × 1.6 mm3, The number of triangular loops is increased with proper optimization, and these iterations of the triangular nested loops create a quad-band resonance centered at 1.28 GHz, 2.95 GHz, 4.42 GHz, and 5.44 GHz with bandwidth of 20 MHz, 90 MHz, 360 MHz, and 630 MHz. In all four resonance frequencies, the proposed antenna exhibits good radiation characteristics and has a radiation efficiency of around 80%. The proposed design resonates for sub 6 GHz 5G, WLAN, WiMAX applications.
