History of the IEEE Reliability Prediction Standards
This article is the fifth article for the Standards Column in the new Reliability Magazine. This article summarizes the standards portfolio for the IEEE Reliability Society Standards Committee (IEEE RS-SC). This article describes the standards being created and maintained. This article showcases the first reliability prediction standard sponsored by the IEEE RS when the IEEE RS-SC began. This groundbreaking standard is IEEE 1413-1998, the IEEE Standard Framework for Reliability Prediction of Hardware. The guidance document that supports IEEE 1413–1998 is also discussed. The hierarchical diagram of the reliability standards portfolio is shown.
