Compensation of time shift for time-lapse seismic projects: A Gulf of Mexico case study
This paper presents a deepwater Gulf of Mexico case study focusing on compensating for time shift in 4D time-lapse projects. The study addresses challenges originating from timing disparities, primarily due to changes in water velocity during different acquisition periods. The use of older datasets adds complexity because navigation inaccuracies misalign the reservoir images. Additionally, a time-variant component of the time shift observed in the study posed additional processing challenges. The investigation delves into these issues and outlines the conception of advanced 4D workflows designed to overcome them.
