Leveraging Chevron's experience for effective monitoring of carbon capture and storage
Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is a critical enabler of both global net zero and Chevron's strategy to safely delivering lower carbon energy to a growing world. Chevron's approach is to leverage existing strengths from experience, expertise, and partnerships to help advance wide-scale deployment of CCS and reduce emissions for harder-to-abate, energy-intensive industries. Already Chevron is deploying CCS technologies in locations across the globe with a two-fold focus: 1) lower the carbon intensity of existing assets, and 2) grow a CCS business that helps reduce emissions of the essential industries that enable modern society. A fundamental aspect of CCS project planning is meeting or exceeding all regulatory compliance from local governments, particularly around the monitoring, measurement, and verification (MMV) of a project to confirm subsurface integrity and CO2 movement.
